In a government survey, it was noted that more teens smoked pot than cigarettes.  Pot is seen by teens as “just a weed” and less harmful than alcohol or other substances.  But then, along comes synthetic pot.

Synthetic pot is sold over the counter, often as bath salts.  They are completely unregulated.  Typically, they are marketed as “K2” or “Spice” but are a mixture of herbs, spices or shredded plant material that is typically sprayed with synthetic compounds known as cannabinoids that are chemically similar to THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.  While perceived as “safe” alternatives to marijuana they are anything but, and can have life-threatening effects!

A study released by HealthDay notes that users of synthetic pot may have the following consequences:

1.     More prone to injury and violent behaviour.

2.     Victims of sexual or dating violence.

3.     Mental health issues.

4.     Can be potentially fatal.

A 2014 MADD study said that Teens whose parents told them underage drinking is completely unacceptable are 80 percent less likely to drink.  Gobi is designed to help families communicate in a clear manner that these synthetics are dangerous, extremely dangerous.
